Magnificent photo album of one of the first great photographers: George Wilson (Georges Washington Wilson).
This album only has 18 photos of Scotland. Different photos of landscapes, cities, ruins and castles fill this album of the 1870's. The quality of this photos is great and all of them in very good condition.
Due to his great and extense work, this book is not as rare as the others in this web (L'architecture americaine, Villas pittoreques and Pompei), but I think is one of Wilson`s first works.

In examining the story of Wilson’s success, there is no doubt that his position as a royal photographer helped to raise his profile above those of his competitors. However, this was a contributing factor rather than the sole reason behind his success. Wilson was driven by a need to produce landscape photographs that were framed with the care and attention of an artist’s eye. He had the foresight to embrace the photographic revolution when it was relatively new, adopting and experimenting with it to make commercial pictures of a country as it was emerging as a popular tourist resort.
His photographs of the Trossachs, the Highlands and the Western Isles, together with his images showing Queen Victoria and her family at home in Balmoral, sold in their thousands.
